Hi Lu.

If I'm being honest, your asking the wrong person "smile". According to the

product description it handles tables and other formatting, but it will all
depend on the document your scanning, the scanner settings etc. etc. Best
advice I can give you is to go and get yourself a trial license and see if
its suitable for your needs.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi Ibrahim,

Thanks. Do you know if abbyy fine reader handles table formats well? Or do
you know an OCR scanning application that handles table formats well?

Regards,
LU

Hi Lu.

Firstly yes, the Canon LiDE range are portable A4 flatbed's, so providing
there's enough room in your bag for it then it will fit as its about the
dthickness of a laptop.

I personally don't use Omni Page preferring instead Abbyy Fine Reader, but I

do understand that Omni Page does preserve all document formatting when
scanning to Microsoft Office.

All the best, Ibrahim.

HI Ibrahim,

Please do you know:

1. Can the Canon scanner fit into a laptop bag?
2. Will OmniPage preserve the layout of tables in a document when you scan
to MS Word?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
LU

Hi Chris.

Canon do a range of scanners called the LiDe, they're compact A4 flatbeds
which are USB powered and have buttons on the front which when combined with

the provided software will scan to PDF, email etc. Needless to say, they
also come with Twain drivers so you can use your favourite OCR program like
Fine Reader or Omni Page or one of those specialised products like kurzweil.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Good evening all.
I would like recommendations on a portable scanner that is USB powered
only please. I need the ability to scan images and save to a PDF file.
The reason I am asking is I need to print a form, scan it in, and send
the scanned image via e-mail.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.
Take care.
