Thanks

Hi Graham et al

I would also favour this route if possible. Tune In Radio, for example, is a brilliant app, and I use it constantly. A friend gave me a small round speaker for my birthday that runs on batteries, and what a great sound it has when hooked up to the iPod Touch. As you say, you could use the cheapest iPod for such an app, and a keyboard if you don't feel comfortable with touch-screen technology. I actually think you get a better quality of sound from streaming this way than listening to DAB, even in a good area, but that's subjective I know.

Happy hunting.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Cairns

The IPod with an application such as TuneIn is also a very accessible radio tuner. I am not sure whether any of the cheaper Android phones can be set up as internet players but an IPod should cost you less than £200 for an 8 GB model.

If you don't like the touch screen interface you can use a Bluetooth keyboard instead.

Regards

Graham

The pocket plextalk is an excellent accessible internet radio and you do not need sighted help to set it up.
The sound quality is good and had has great volume as well if that is important.
If you want big sound you will need to plug in external speakers but I use it as a portable radio with earphones.
You can use the Plextalk transfer utility connect wirelessly or you can connect to wireless networks on the fly using the Plextalk itself.
The process of connecting is not well described in the manual but shout if anybody needs help.
