Hi Nick

Thank you for the information you have sent, I will go and have a look at
Enterprise Architect.

Hi Paul.

By there nature often these tools don't have accessibility as a major
consideration as when you get down to it they are tools to draw diagrams.
Having said that there are some which are usable, although not cheep.
A couple that I'm aware of.
Enterprise Architect, http://www.sparxsystems.com/ is accessible with
dolphin products. I've got some map files for it if you need them. I know
jaws users have struggled a bit with this one.
I really like EA, its simple, does what you need and its code gen and
documentation gen tools are wonderful. It costs around 300 Australian
dollars which makes it by far the cheapest UML tool I've used.

I'm now on a team which uses rational rhapsody. www.ibm.com. Its just about
usable with out any dolphin scripts however I know that dolphin have good
ones available. Rhapsody is quite widely used in industry. Its stupidly
expensive, about £10000 a licence, (puts screen reader prices in its dust!).
Our team don't particularly like it. If you read the marketing its meant to
save 20% of your development time. Its more like adding that on to the
development time however some of the architectural stuff it gives you is
quite powerful. The doc gen and code gen aren't any where near as good as EA
though.

In the past I've unsuccessfully tried to use artisan real time studio, a
shockingly bad tool and rational rose, (a long time ago so its probably
changed since). I know of some people that have tried to use Microsoft Visio
for modelling. By its self its inaccessible, I seem to remember talk on the
program-l list that someone had done a clever set of plug-ins for it to
represent diagrams in XML.

HTH.
Nick.

Is there a UML/SYSML tool that is accessible to a screenreader?

Paul

Thanks Paul.

I've not come across a tool that brings all of those methodologies together
so can't really help. As a software engineer I don't really look at any
other modelling other than UML/SYSML.

Sorry.
Nick.

Hi Nick

QSEE-Technologies are providers of a free software product designed to help
with modelling of software type systems, i.e. CASE tools. Techniques
supported include UML, DFDs, ERDs and Real-time DFDs.

Hi Paul.

Just a check on terminology but what does a multi-case tool do? Is it
similar to a UML tool?

Thanks.
Nick.

I have been told to use QSEE- Superlite on the Structured System Analysis &
Design Techniques module for the course I am doing.

I have downloaded the software and have found it inaccessible with either
Jaws or Dolphin Screenreader.

Can anybody suggest an alternative multi-Case tool that is accessible?
I am
waiting for my course leader to contact me and would like to be able to put
an alternative forward or am I going to have to use sighted assistance to do
the module.
