Are you using the mapi servers or the smtp servers. This will make a
difference to the parameters you use?

I have checked in the archive as John suggested and it is really very
annoying. I traced the emails that appeared to be relevant but, as I
suspected, they did not actually answer the question. Tom Reid states that
he has found the solution but does not elaborate.

Please Tom, if you can remember, which setting on the ntlworld/virginmedia
site did you change to get your email working on your iphone.
