Hi,

Try plugging your headphones in, pressing play on the headphones so that
music or a stream starts to play, then crank the volume up.

Disconnect your headphones and see if your volume is back. This is a
tip I got from http://www.iphonefaq.org/archives/97379?page=

Subject: [BCAB] IPHONE 4S PROBLEM

Hi,

Last night, as usual, I turned down the speech volume on my 4s and, this
morning, unusually, I have absolutely no speech at all for meaningful
access. I put it this way since, when an incoming call is received, the
phone speaks briefly and rings once but then all sound is again muted!
I
have had visual confirmation that VO is enabled in the accessibility
options
so this isn't the issue and also that the volume is at maximum setting.

Before I carry out a complete reset/restore via iTunes, does anyone have
any
suggestions, please, both as to what to do to fix the problem and, also,
how
I got myself into this pickle in the first place?

Thanks for any help.

Richard Bartholomew
