[BCAB] microsoft surface

Hi,

NVDA is working with the touch gestures, and it's possible to use the gestures with Narrator.

I wouldn't mind having a play with a surface, but I'm no way at the stage I'd take a punt on it with my cash. I've my suspicions access won't be as good when put side-by-side with an iPad.

Barry.

Hi,

I believe the Surface Pro is likely to be more than £600, and I am also not sure whether there will be any specific benefits of us as blind people using a tablet with JFW at the moment, as there will always be a need for an external keyboard, since JFW doesn't use touch gestures like we have with IOS.

Would be happy to be proved wrong of course...

You will also need to use JFW Pro as it will come with Windows 8 Pro, having said this a lot of the new gear is coming with Windows 8 Pro in any case, two laptops I have dealt with at work from different companies both had it installed at factory.

Andrew.

Hi all.

I'm starting to seriously think about a replacement for my NC210 netbook
which has been generally dragged from pillar to post. It's actually not a
bad machine once you take away all the junkware including macafee that comes
with it.

I thought about an ultra book but at £600 or so it's more than I want to pay
plus I have to suffer a bigger screen which I don't use.

I did hear an interesting Vision Australia article about the Microsoft
Surface tablet. Am I correct in thinking there is now a Microsoft Surface
that includes a full version of windows 8 and if so, could you install JAWS
on it?

Any thoughts much appreciated. Oh and if I can help it no I don't want to
be forced into paying money for old rope and having to buy JAWS pro!

Regards

Graham
