Hi Steve,

This is good to know, are these through apps you have to install or do they
come with a specific android version?

I haven't as yet made the switch from the old Nokia with talks but am
looking at the nexus 4 and nexus 10 tablet.

Best, John

Hi,

Google Now already handles public transport very well. Contextually too.

So if I am at a bus stop, it will tell me when the next three buses arrive.
If I am at a train station, it will give me live departure info. And so on.

All the best

Steve

Hi Nick and all,

Since my last post Russ from another list has told me about the below
android app, don't know if there is anything similar for the ios.

Tactile Mobile Pro (version 3.1.1 with Live Detection, Face Detection and
Pixel Detection )
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tactilemobile

Tactile Mobile Free ( version 2.4.1 with Live Detection and Face Detection)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ifeelpixel

I think for best results for apps with london buses and tubes, it would need
tfl working with the developers to put anything effective in place.

There are faster recognition systems over ocr, perhaps qr barcodes or things
like face recognition or even use data communications with systems on public
transport.

Just food for thought ;)

best, John
