Hi David,

I have been fighting with Virgin for a couple of weeks over slow Internet.
I am paying fo4r a 50 meg business service and they weren't delivering. My
Internet is fast again though as of yesterday. Is yours any better now?

All the best

Steve

George/Tony,
I've just changed the settings to detect a DN server automatically. I
remember a while back changing my DNS server, so I'll give it a go this
evening to see whether it makes any difference.
Failing that, I'll complain to Virgin, although like most ISPs, their
support is shocking. The connection isn't cable, I'm too rural for that. Who
knows, perhaps threatening to move may do the trick.

Best regards,

David.

Hello David

Had this with BT in Hastings area sporadically. Sometimes cleared by
rebooting the router - I have heard that the BT supplied Home Hub is not a
good router. I am changing phone and ISP to Post Office as cheaper, but I
notice that the first step of changing - asking BT for a MAC code - prompted

immediate response from BT (even to knocking £12 a month off the rent!) so
if you are with BT, ask for the MAC code and see if they can sort out the
contention ratio problem.

I read recently that a satellite dish plus USB wifi antennae can have a
ten-mile range - any free hotspots in your area?

Regards
Tony Dart
