[BCAB] Creating an HD backup on the Mac before performing a clean install

Hi,

Can you do a clean install from the recovery partition?  I wasn't sure if it was going to format the system when I chose to format the disk, so used the USB key method.

Actually, when you do a clean install, you can redownload the OS from the web in the recovery partition. Recovery partition & the OS redownload is accessible with VO & I've done this myself since this was first made possible when 10.7 was launched. 
In the US, the VO team can also help you out if you're stuck, & UK & Ireland callers can also call them free from skype :
