    Hi Eleanor.

Having played with the app for some time now, I'm ready to give my first
impressions. I usually hold contempt for or scorn of specialist solutions,
like you I think that often they are over priced for what they do and the
same results can be achieved by cheaper more widely available commercial
solutions. The thing that sets this app apart from the current crop of
iPhone GPS aids is simply the fact that everything is self contained and the
amount of information given about your surroundings and while you're on a
route is simply phenomenal. For instance, the look around wand I don't
think is available anywhere else and the announcements you get when
travelling, telling you how far your turn is, when you need to turn and when
you've made the turn successfully although partially accomplishable with
apps like Ariadne are incredibly accurate. I've only done a couple of basic
routes this morning after familiarising myself with the app, down to the
local shops for instance but I am confident that this app has a lot of
potential. I am in the very early stages of evaluating it still but so far,
I'm impressed.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Agree Mel, as I already have this I would not want to subscribe to it.

Personally I'd rather pay an amount similar to something like Navigon than
be faced with an on-going subscription. But that's just my take on it.

Hi Kelsey,

Actually that's not strictly true. Sighted people would have to pay for
Navigon.

Just like in other apps, there are free and paid for GPS apps. Seems there
are more free navigation apps on Android though than iOS.

All the best

Steve

I still find it annoying that blind people have to pay for navigation apps
whereas sighted people get an app of equal or greater abilities for
absolutely free. I understand that it is harder to develop for a blind
person due to accessibility (not that much of an issue) and specialised
groups who don't get much funding. Still, I think that blind people
shouldn't have to pay for services that sighted people get for free. Just
saying…
