to be fair the company does say that others have invented braille phones but
they have not actually got as far as going on sale.

I know there was talk about a phone or possibly a notetaker device combined
with a phone based on android at one time and I seem to remember it was code
named Wizard or am I imagining this? either way it never got off the ground
sadly as far as I know.

Hi,

Actually this is inaccurate though. The first Braille phone was made by
Baum and was one of the Prontos. it never got off the ground though.

All the best

The front face of the phone is produced using 3D printing and is
individualised for the user.
It is a basic phone, calls only but should be noted that the braille buttons
are dedicated to call specific numbers preinstalled on the phone, you cannot
use it to dial any number, though the company's website state they are
working on this.
If you only call a couple of numbers and those regularly, and want a phone
with a long battery then this looks a good option.

I saw this story on the BBC News iPhone App and thought you should see it:

First Braille phone goes on sale

London-based firm OwnFone has released what it says is the world's first
Braille phone, which has been partially constructed using 3D printing
techniques.
