This is terrible. Perhaps Robin Spink or Sally Cain at RNIB should be
informed of this. Hope I have the spelling of their names right .

With kind regards,

Subject: [BCAB] Amazon Access

The recent problems on leaving feedback on Amazon seems to reflect the
increasing impression I have that Amazon seems to be going down the tubes
from an access standpoint.

To add to the problem reported earlier with leaving feedback I tried to
purchase a Nexus 7 this morning but after adding to basket could not get
past the screen which wanted me to accept a trial of Amazon Prime. Neither
Jaws or NVDA could see any elements that could be usefully activated . Jaws
was announcing clickable everywhere but failing to find anything with the
Jaws cursor.
Past techniques like just pressing enter or space on text which might have
progressed the page also did not yield results.

In the end I gave up and bought one on EBay which was £10 cheaper anyway.

Given the consistent poor and flaky approach to Access Amazon has, for,.
Example inaccessible cloud player app, inability to import music into their
cloud with a screenreader etc., and the dominance they are achieving in
various Marketplaces I do think it is a priority for the Web Access Team at
the RNIB to try and engage with them.

I have personally spent hours speaking to well-meaning people at Amazon Tech
support and got precisely nowhere.
They claim everything works with NVDA but they repeat this like a mantra and
have clearly not tried it themselves. I am afraid they do not have a clue.
There needs to be a serious project of engagement to try and make them look
at things seriously and have at least a basic accessibility testing routine
for their web development projects.

Subject: [BCAB] Leaving feedback on the UK Amazon site

Hi

I could leave feedback for marketplace products on Amazon with no
problems. However, it now no longer works.

When I click on Submit Feedback for any or all items, it no longer works.
I've tried hitting Enter, routing cursors with JAWS and Window-Eyes and
tabbing to the Submit Feedback link. I've tried IE and Firefox.

This has certainly worked for me in the past.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers

Kevin
