[BCAB] Inexpensive conferencing service

Hi Jackie,

TeamTalk simply records digitally, so you don't plug anything into it or add
third party devices. And it can be started with a single keystroke.

It also can record in pseudo stereo, making each contributor sound like they
are in a different position in the room.

All the best

Steve

Hi Steve

I often need to record conversations for the Tech Talk show, so how could I
do this using TeamTalk? I currently use iFree Skype Recorder, but it does
some odd things, and I am always worried I won't capture the interview I am
conducting through Skype. I have Total Recorder as well, but it doesn't
seem to let me record both sides.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Brown

Hi Andrew,

What about TeamTalk? Admittedly, you'd have to have a TeamTalk server as
well, but the client and the server are good.

Advantages are very high quality speech, you can create .tt files so a user
just opens the file and it connects to your server. Also the iOS and
Android apps are good too.

Since you have a BCAB web site, you may be able to host a TeamTalk server on
that, if they allow the bandwidth.

TeamTalk also allows desktop sharing and video conferencing. And the
quality is far superior to Skype.

No, I don't sell it, I'm just a happy user who uses it for training some
people, as it also allows you to record conversations. What I also love is
it lets you record each participant as a separate file. So if one user has
a lot of noise in the background, you can just edit their file, without
affecting the sound of the other users.

You can find it at http://www.bearware.dk and there are Linnux as well as
Windows versions.

All the best

Steve

Hi all,

We at BCAB have struggled to find a reliable inexpensive conferencing
service to hold our calls on a monthly basis and for other occasions.

We used the free conference call services from www.freeconferencecall.com
for a while, and this worked ok, but the call quality was poor and people
found it difficult to hear a lot of the time.

We used the phone.coop service, which used to be Community network, and the
quality is a lot better, but more expensive.

We have tried Skype, but the system seems to break really hard after around
5-6 people join the chat.

We are looking for an inexpensive conference facility that preferably works
with the phone (or if not has an iOS app). Any suggestions?

Thanks.
Andrew.
