Thanks for this steve. I will certainly give this a go.

Of course these are different from what I have been used to but it's only
necessary to learn a few initially.

Cheers

Hi Graham,

First, your stutter is likely to be RAM. I only have 2GB, and it stutters a
little bit, but not unbearably. I too got a cheap one to see how it is, and
I'm quite impressed so far.

Now to your Email query.

First, you need to go into Gmail settings, and turn on Keyboard Shortcuts.
Once you do this, it will apply across all devices, not just your
Chromebook, this is one thing I love about Google, they take all your
settings on each platform and remember them.

Once done, head on over to:-

n

Some examples on that web site. You can presss the hash key to delete an
Email, press R to reply, C for Compose I think, and you can also use your
Chromevox shortcuts as well. For example, search and up arrow will take you
to the top Email in the list, and search and down arrow to the bottom. Bit
like Control-home and control-end.

I hope this helps.

All the best

Steve

Hi all.

Last Wednesday I bought myself a chromebook. It only has 2 GB of Ram and an
intel Celeron processor. In general, the web experience is great. It's
fast and there are add blocking utilities too.

I was also quite impressed by Google Docs. I can right and read documents
quite well but I hear some stutter. Is this a problem with the screen
reader or is it more likely to be the lack of RAM? Either way it's far
faster than windows.

Email looks promising, but I wonder if anyone could advise me on short cuts.
I can arrow through messages and press enter on them to read them but how
about starting a new message, replying to a message, forwarding a message
etc?

Any hints would be useful.

Cheers

Graham
