Let me see, with the manufacturer, whether there is something they can do to
change this!

I'll report back, as, and when I have a solution!

What are the problems you encountered?
My sister got one and it is pretty unusable for her as the volume on
earphones is apparently really quiet even on maximum volume which means she
can only use it on speaker mode. This is impractical as it would drive her
husband mad.
The alternative is putting it through a separate earphone amplifier which
she has to keep charged up and is fiddly. She also says that the supplied
case makes it extremely difficult to insert a headphone jack.
She is like me hearing impaired but I do find it odd that the RNIB
apparently do not do any basic testing for suitability with hearing impaired
people.

I applaud the concept of using and adapting mainstream devices but there are
phones out there which I and she could hear with rreasonable volume on
earphones. The WileyFox swift which was recommended to me is a good example
of a cheap phone with good volume output on earphones. Why not take this
route?

My sister thought the device would give her independence with talking books
but I have had to return to putting books on SD card for her to use with her
Pocket Plextalk as the portable device has such inadequate volume.

Jackie,
Just e-mailed real thing and told them I intend to cancel my subscription
but also disappointed that I couldn't put further input in to the
development of the device.
Kind regards,
Oh, still waiting for a manager to ring me from rnib.
Dennis huckle.

One of the many reasons not to buy it in my view, but that's just my
personal take on it.

Have any of you on list purchased rnib in your pocket?.

Well, I have. I also agreed to beta test updates coming from the real thing
company in Australia.

However I am a bit stuck,

No updates have come for several months now. Also rnib should have taken
direct debits monthly.

I received a letter a couple of weeks ago saying they were going to take
three payments on 30th june. This also hasen't happened so I want to cancel
my device.

Customer services say no because its after 14 days and I haven't now got the
original box.

What a performance!!!

Kind regards,

Dennis disappointed huckle.
