That is very odd.   The Firefox ESR version is supposed to  only install security updates for now.
I have just started my Firefox ESR version – when I went to About it told me that it wanted to install updates.
These updates were duly installed  when I restarted Firefox but after the update was installed I  went to Help about and checked again and I was still safely on version 52.
Quite why your ESR has defied its normal behaviour and updated you to 57 is puzzling.
I should inform Mozilla if |I were you though they do seem quite difficult to contact. When I have tried in the past I just get referred to web forums.

I have installed Firefox ESR. I did have water Fox, and it was okay, but I struggled when filling in some forms. I also have probe. It was just annoying as I had told it not to update.
