[BCAB] Calls to most UK numbers (including mobiles) are now free using Google Home. Yes, free as in hands-free and cost-free.

Hi Ian,

No, it's simpler than that. Just go to Settings, Accounts, then add your Gmail account to your iPhone. Then it will sync the contacts up to Google Home. You do have a Gmail account?

Alll the best

Steve

Hello GrahamTh was the area I found a bit tricky. What you need to do, assuming your contacts are on iCloud, is to go on to iCloud and export your contacts ito a file. I have to say that this was a bit tricky with JAWS and the Chrome browser. at this point, my wife had to help. Having exported your contacts into a file. you need to then log in to your Google account and find Contacts. You can then import the file of contacts into Google. I'm sure the same would apply if your contacts are held in the cloud in Outlook. If your contacts are held on your computer, I'm sure you will be able to export them to a file to import into your Google account.

OK I thought there would be some set up required so that worked fine.

My next question is how can I sink my contacts on my IPhone with the contacts on google home so I can call my named contacts?

Well, before you go down what might be an unneeded route, have you tried just making the call without setting anything up?

It SHOULD work right out of the box, so to speak. The only time you'd need to mess with the app is if you wanted caller display to show your number (rather than with-held) or if your contact list wasn't already synced.

So just try "OK google, make a call to ..." and then maybe even clearly speak the number if contacts aren't synced.

Remember, this applies to physical devices like the Google Home or Mini - if you just do it on your mobile, then it'll just make a regular mobile call.

Let us know how you get on!
