[BCAB] kapsys phone

Is it not a pity that an organisation that claims to support the blind do not support a product designed for the blind?

Padma

Padma

The difference is that there are suppliers of a specialist product who should be providing support.

As much as we would like, we can't support every product.

Paul

Hello Paul

Yes, I accept I have received a great deal of support from the TFL team. I am very grateful for that. I am also aware that R N I B do not supply Kapsys phone. Nor do they supply I-Phone or I-Pad. Yet I had excellent help with my I-Phone when I Had one. I fail to understand the difference.

Kind regards,

Padma

Dear Padma

The Tech For Life Team has given you a lot of support over the years.

We don't supply the Kapsys. Therefore we don't know how the phone operates. You should be receiving support from your supplier.

We can, however, advise on general terms how to download an app in Android but it won't be specific to the Kapsys.

Regards

Paul

\hello Steve

No, I am not Dennis; but while doing some research on Kapsys phone I found out that Kapsys supplier would not help me if I get stuck while downloading a third party app nor would Technology for Life team at R N I B. so, if one has a Kapsys phone, and difficulty downloading , he or she would be left high and dry.

What is more annoying is R N I B help a blind person with any other phone but not Kapsys. I fail to understand this attitude.

Kind regards,

Padma

Hi Dennis,

No, you can't do that. Because the Voice Assistant is Google and does some work online to recognise names.

But you should definitely have a Google account, if for no other reason than it backs up your contacts. What if the phone went wrong and you had to replace it?

All the best

Steve

I really like the device. However I found it a little frustrating to have to set up my google account to ask the device to call a friend, home or others in my contact list.

Anybody more in the know about this. Is there an easier way of just holding the button on the top right and saying call doctor if no google account is set up?.

Also just for information to Kapsys users the problem with the bookreader not resuming from where you left off has been identified and being looked into by Kapsys.

Back again,

Kind regards,

Dennis huckle.
