You should find, where you turned on Office sounds, a further combo box where you can specify whether to use the classic office sounds or a newer scheme.
I can’t remember step by step now but it is definitely there as I turned mine back to classic.
Personally I prefer the classic scheme I have always been used to.

I've used Microsoft sounds for ages now, but gather that there may be some
new sounds for Office 2016, 2019 and 365.


I'm using 2016, and wonder how to change to the new sounds?  The checkbox to
turn on sounds is checked.

Any help would be appreciated.
